"BOSTON * A new initiative will launch in the same
fashion as it was created--with women coming together to fight cancer. The
twoAM Fund (two women on a mission) will address something many women
share--the risk of breast cancer and ovarian cancer. On Thursday, April 10,
Martinis, Makeovers, and a Mission at Neiman Marcus Copley Place in Boston
will be a night of makeovers, fashion and socializing to benefit this novel
movement.
The event will offer a variety of exciting opportunities
throughout the evening. There will be a salute to the fashion house of Yves
Saint Laurent, from ready-to-wear to makeup, fragrance, and accessories.
From makeup artists, fashion consultants, and trunk shows; to live
entertainment, a live auction, cocktail buffets and Martini bars galore -
there will be something exciting at every turn.
The highlight of the evening will be the United States
premiere of the Yves Saint Laurent Fall 2008 Collection. This collection was
just seen on the runway in Paris and is sure to hold many surprises for the
audience. Guests who purchase a ticket package will be seated for the show.
In addition to the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to
experience a Paris fashion show, there will be many other unique
experiences. Special guest Charla Krupp, author of the New York Times best
seller How Not to Look Old, will be on hand. DJ Andrew Andrew will supply
entertainment and there will be a chance to win a Cynthia Bach designed
piece of jewelry.
Proceeds from the 2008 Neiman Marcus Martinis, Makeovers,
and a Mission event will directly support innovative breast cancer and
ovarian cancer research at Dana-Farber through the twoAM Fund. TwoAM is the
result of a conversation between Karen Webster, a breast cancer survivor,
and Patricia Franchi Flaherty, an ovarian cancer survivor. Over coffee, they
talked about their cancer experiences and what could be accomplished with
combined efforts to conquer both diseases and twoAM was born.
Money raised for twoAM will support two funds, Catalyst
for a Cure, which provides funding for metastatic breast cancer research and
the Ovations for the Cure, which supports ovarian cancer research. TwoAM has
three simple and straightforward objectives--to unify the communities of
breast cancer and ovarian cancer survivors, raise funds to bolster
innovative research for both diseases at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and to
use this research to explore the links between the two.
Individual tickets are $250 and ticket packages, which
include a seat to the fashion show, are available for $2,500, $5,000 and
$10,000."
