Historic
Faneuil Hall contains
several specialty stores. The Brearley Collection photo shop is located
on the first floor of the building. From
Congress Street, walk to the right of the
Samuel Adams Statue and
enter the red door. The Brearley gallery is just inside on the left.
The Brearley Collection of Rare
Negatives contains hundreds of obscure and unique photographs of famous
sports figures, with a specialization in Boston teams. The collection includes
many scarce photos of famous baseball figures including Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Joe
DiMaggio or Carl Yastrzemski, and from teams such as the Boston Red Sox,
New York Yankees, Saint Louis Cardinals, or Brooklyn Dodgers.
The collection contains many images of
Boston Bruins hockey legends including Milt Schmidt, Bobby Orr, Phil Esposito,
or Terry O'Reilly;
basketball greats such as Michael Jordan, Bill Russell, Larry Bird
or
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar; and of course New England Patriots stars
including Ty Law, Teddy
Bruschi, or Tom Brady. The Brearley shop at Faneuil Hall also
carries photos of pop
icons, movies stars, and politicians, with a focus on Boston.
For the sports enthusiast, many of the
rare photos in the Brearley gallery are
autographed. Each photo is guaranteed to be authentic and comes with a
certificate of authenticity signed by a member of the Brearley family. When possible, a photograph of the
athlete signing the piece accompanies the certificate.
