Louisburg Square is on Beacon Hill. It is located
down Mount Vernon Street from the State House. The square is actually
private property, and was once considered a symbol of Boston Brahmin wealth
and culture. A statue of Aristides the Just stands on the south side of the
park in the square. The nose of the statue was knocked off many years
ago, and at one time Aristides was nicknamed "Uncle Louie." |
