Aristides The Just, Louisburg Square

Aristides Statue, Louisburg Square

Louisburg Square is on Beacon Hill. It is located down Mount Vernon Street from the State House. The square is actually private property, and was once considered a symbol of Boston Brahmin wealth and culture. A statue of Aristides the Just stands on the south side of the park in the square. The nose of the statue was knocked off many years ago, and at one time Aristides was nicknamed "Uncle Louie."
