John Trumbull's Battle Of Bunker's Hill

John Trumbull's Painting, Battle Of Bunker Hill

John Trumbull's Battle of Bunker Hill. The painting was stylized, and not a complete reflection of what happened. In the painting above, American General Joseph Warren is lying on the left having been mortally wounded, with British Colonel Abercrombie at his feet. There were many heroes at Bunker Hill. A rag-tag army of Provincial troops hastily set up a redoubt or dirt fortification, while Charlestown was pounded and burnt by the British. Many American soldiers bravely held their positions while running out of ammunition. British soldiers bravely marched up the hill while bogged down in heavy rucksacks.
