Venus Statue And Fountain, Boston Public Garden

Venus Statue, Public Garden, c.1907

A view of the Venus Fountain in the Boston Public Garden, near the entrance at Arlington Street and Commonwealth Avenue. The equestrian statue of George Washington is in the background. The Venus statue was considered too risqué and was replaced with a small cherub. She was also known as "The Maid Of The Mist" due to the fine spray of the fountain.
