Summer Street Boston, Looking West

Summer Street, c.1920

A view of Summer Street looking west. In the center, at the end of the street, is what is known today as the Downtown Crossing shopping district.  The facade of the building on the left has been saved with a skyscraper built behind it, and the buildings on the immediate right were torn down and the "lollipop" building was built in their place (for many years the office tower had a sculpture in front of it that resembled a tree made out of orange lollipops).
