Holiday Recipes, 1950s

Yuletide Punch Recipe (18 small glasses)

1/2 cup seeded raisins
2 medium sized apples
4 cups unsweetened pineapple juice
4 cups cider
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 stick cinnamon
2 tablespoons lemon juice
Red vegetable coloring
Cloves

Combine pineapple juice and cider, pour over raisins and let stand while apples are being prepared. Peel apples, quarter and remove core. Stick each quarter with 3 cloves. Combine sugar and water and enough red coloring to make the mixture a deep rose. Add stick cinnamon, bring to a boil, and boil for 5 minutes. Add apples and cook until they are tender, but still hold their shape. Bring cider, pineapple juice, and raisins to boil; add apples, syrup and lemon juice. Stir well. Serve hot in punch glasses with a piece of apple in each glass.
