The Meigs Elevated Railway
"Senator John Welch of Lowell tried again yesterday to get the Senate to admit the petition of Joe V. Meigs, the Meigs Elevated Railway Construction Company for certain modifications of the charter of the Meigs Elevated Railway Company. He said the restrictions in the charter were put in the to prevent the construction of the road. On a yea and nay vote of 14 to 12, not the necessary four-fifths, the Senate refused to reconsider its action and admit the petition."
