[The Meigs Elevated]
"On Tuesday forenoon the joint committee of the Legislature on street railways visited and inspected the Meigs elevated railroad on Bridge street. The members were treated to a ride on the road, and listened with interest to Capt. Meigs' explanations of the peculiarities of this very peculiar road. In the afternoon several members of the Legislature and other gentlemen interested visited the road, and also practically tested its ability to solve the rapid transit problem."
