Adams Square Subway Kiosk

Old Green Line Article Adams Square Subway Kiosk

This is a great view of Adams Square and the old subway entrance from about 1910. There used to be a streetcar loop along the Green Line, and Adams Square Station, that were both demolished when Government Center was built. Boston City Hall now stands where the subway entrance once stood. On the right is the tall Ames Building, and in the center of the crossroads is the statue of Samuel Adams. The statue was later moved just to the east of this location in front of Faneuil Hall. Note the large sign on the left for Detroit Publishing Company, they may have produced this postcard.
