The Stage at Boston City Hall

Boston City Hall Plaza Concerts

For many years, there have been free concerts at Boston City Hall. This program is currently known as the Dorothy Curran Wednesday Evening Concert Series. There is a small stage on the north end of City Hall Plaza in Government Center. On occasion, a temporary stage is erected in front of the building.

The concerts are scheduled from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Wednesday evenings. It's best to arrive early to acquire the best "seats," which are the brick steps in front of the stage. The concerts are sponsored by the Boston Parks and Recreation Department. The plaza concerts are similar to the free concerts at the Hatch Shell, which are sponsored by the state Conservation and Recreation Department.

Boston abounds in History and the Arts!  The city has a long history of providing events in the neighborhoods. The current program is called ParkArts and dates back to the early 1970s, when it was known as SummerThing.
