Fenway Park Hotels

There are four hotels near Fenway Park, home of the famous Boston Red Sox baseball team. Nearest to Fenway Park is the motel-style Verb Hotel, with the Hotel Buckminster and Hotel Commonwealth located a short distance away in Kenmore Square. The Eliot Hotel is a few blocks south down Commonwealth Avenue. The hotels range from two to four stars, with the The Verb Hotel and Hotel Buckminster being two of the few relative budget hotel choices in downtown Boston.

Fenway Park is the historic home of the Boston Red Sox. Many extraordinary baseball games have taken place there, with the 6th game of the 1975 World Series being one of the most famous. Incredible athletes such as Babe Ruth, Joe Cronin, Ted Williams, Carl Yastrzemski, Jim Rice, and so many others had played much of their careers at Fenway.

Fenway Park is located only a block away from Kenmore Square, which marks the western boundary of Boston's Back Bay District. South of the park is a district known as the Longwood Medical Area where several hospitals call their home. Downtown Boston is one mile east of Kenmore, and can be reached via Boylston Street, Commonwealth Avenue, Storrow Drive, or via the subway.

Hotels Near TD Garden
Fenway Park

The motel-style Verb Hotel is located right behind Fenway Park on Boylston Street. One can literally hear people cheering during Red Sox games from the parking lot of the hotel. There is a connector ramp from Storrow Drive that drops you off on Boylston Street near the hotel which is very convenient. Yawkey Way, which becomes an extension of Fenway Park during games (ticketed access), is just around the corner from The Verb Hotel.

Second closest to Fenway Park is the Boston Hotel Buckminster in Kenmore Square. The hotel's south windows actually face the Green Monster or left field wall of Fenway Park. Some of the hotel's windows also provide a front-row view of the famous Citgo Sign in Kenmore Square. Just west of the Buckminster is the campus of Boston University. The Kenmore Square subway station is just across the street with provides pretty quick access to downtown Boston via the Green Line. An interesting note about the hotel is that Grahm Junior College once occupied the building, with Andy Kaufman being the most famous graduate of the former school in 1971.

Hotel Commonwealth is also located in Kenmore Square. This four+ star hotel occupies much of the south side of the square, and hosts its own row of boutique shops on the ground floor. The subway station entrance is footsteps away from the hotel. Hotel Commonwealth was constructed in the 1990s and is the newest hotel in the Fenway Park area. The building is architecturally pleasing, and generally provides a uniformed staff of attendants for baggage handling and other services for its guests. Great views of the giant Citgo Sign can be attained from all the north facing windows of the hotel.

Eliot Hotel is located at Commonwealth and Massachusetts Avenues and is just a few blocks east of Fenway Park. Prudential Center is within walking distance via Boylston Street, with Kenmore Square and Fenway Park not far away in the opposite direction. A while ago a bar occupied part of the first floor of the hotel, and is where many famous Boston Marathon runners used to gather socially. Some of the runners had cast their feet in the concrete sidewalk there, and it became sort of an attraction called Walkway of the Running Stars. As of 2012, some of the footprints were still visible in the concrete just outside the Mass Ave entrance of the hotel. Eliot Hotel can be considered part of the boutique category, and also generally provides a uniformed staff of attendants for use by hotel guests.

In summary, if you are visiting Fenway Park, there are four hotels located in the immediate vicinity. The Verb Hotel is almost like being at a Red Sox game as it's that close to the park, while Hotel Buckminster and Hotel Commonwealth are nearby in Kenmore Square. The Eliot Hotel at Mass Ave marks sort of the boundary between the Copley Square area and Kenmore Square area which is very convenient in the Back Bay District.
