Beacon Street At Clarendon

A view looking down Beacon Street just before Clarendon Street in Boston's Back Bay district. Back Bay was originally a mud flat or basin for the Charles River, and was filled-in during the mid-1850s. A causeway was built across the flats and was known as the Mill Dam (a toll road), which later became Beacon Street.
