Red Sox Fantasy Baseball
Erik Bedard, August 31, 2011

With the fantasy baseball season coming to a close, there is plenty of owners out there looking for the missing piece to help them make a late season push. For those already in the playoffs, you're probably looking for a favorable matchup in a pitcher somewhere.

Well, consider Boston Red Sox pitcher Erik Bedard who surprisingly is still available in 50 percent of all fantasy baseball leagues. Yes, you've probably stayed away because he's injury prone and doesn't posses overwhelming stuff, but he is consistent. Bedard is not an up and down pitcher, you can bet he goes at least 6 or 7 innings day in and day out. Backed up by a high-powered Red Sox offense, 6 or 7 might be all he needs for the win.

His numbers have been solid since joining the Red Sox, with a 3.45 ERA and he is averaging a strikeout per inning. He is yet to earn a victory in a Red Sox uniform, but the move to Fenway Park has not hurt his numbers one bit either. With a high-powered offense behind him, Bedard will get his wins which might make all the difference in your late playoff push.
