The Hotel Commonwealth revitalized Kenmore Square in Boston. This
newer building blends well with the older structures in
the square, and brought shoppers to an area that for many years was
dominated by college students.
The hotel is the home of several upscale shops. Inside the building
there is also a gallery of works of art in a central access hallway. Retail stores include: Artemisia (floral design), Commonwealth Books (vintage
art and hstory books), Fanny and Delphine (women's clothing), Hunt's Photo
and Video (photo shop), Jean Therapy (tailor services), Persona
Jewelry (fashion jewelry), Temper Chocolates (chocolate boutique),
Truly Jorg's (breakfast pastry), Wine Gallery (gourmet wine and food),
and Nantucket Natural Oils (perfume).
The hotel was a fine addition to Kenmore Square. Back in the early
1980s, Kenmore was famous for its punk rockers with Mohawk hair cuts, and
today is very bright with many retail shops and stores.
Nearby attractions include Fenway Park,
the Museum of Fine Arts, and
the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.
