The Prudential office tower was built in 1965. The Prudential Center Mall is located at the base of the building. Most shoppers can enter the mall from Boylston Street. Just climb the
stairs at the large statue and enter through the food court.
The Prudential Center contains more than 75 stores. Two larger department
stores are located at the mall, Lord & Taylor and Saks Fifth Avenue. There are several apparel retailers in The Pru including Ann Taylor, Barami,
Club Monaco, and Talbots. The mall has several restaurants including
Top of the Hub, Legal Sea Foods, Cheesecake Factory, and Au Bon Pain. In the food court there are additional restaurants, and one can find Asian,
Italian, and American foods (and ice cream for the kids).
The Prudential Center also has special amenities such as a barber shop, health
club, shoe-shine, and locksmith. Several small kiosks of local vendors
are located in the mall that cater to tourists.
Nearby shopping areas include
Copley Place
Mall at Copley Square, and
Newbury Street, located one block up Hereford or Gloucester Streets
across Boylston Street from the Prudential Center.
The Prudential Skywalk Observatory is
located on the 50th floor. The observatory offers spectacular 360 degree views of the city.
